Does posting on social media make you anxious? You’re not alone!

Most people experience some sort of anxiety surrounding posting to their page. Whether it’s new artwork you’re showing off, your killer mirror selfie with bomb lighting, or even content to your business pagehttps://codiagency.com.au/ to engage with your audience, experiencing nerves is normal.

The good news is, there are some simple things to remember next time you start to feel that social media anxiety creep in, so you can overcome the feeling and get posting.

Change Your Perspective

Focus on why you’re uploading and what you’re using social media for.

Are you wanting to express your opinions in your field on LinkedIn?

Are you trying to show off your new dance moves on TikTok?

Do you have a new product launching for your small business?

Do you just want to show off your perfect winged eyeliner on Instagram?

Are you worried about what people will think?

Relax!

Remember why you’re posting, what you’re trying to achieve, and try to not overthink it. Pinpoint to yourself the value you’re adding with your upload, and focus on what you have to contribute to the platform opposed to what others will think.

Let’s be honest, people don’t think about you as much as you think they do. Everyone is more focused on what they’re posting than spending time judging you, so don’t think too much – just post.

Upload Often

Like most things, the more you do it, the easier it becomes. Start slowly, build up how often you post, and watch your confidence soar. If you’re new to LinkedIn and want to express your views on your industry, just go for it. Get into a routine, post consistently and add value for your audience. Once you start, it’ll continuously get less scary – we promise!

Forget The Likes

Don’t monitor the likes that are (or aren’t) rolling in!

Memorising numbers, analysing who liked what and who didn’t is just going to take a toll on your mental health and contribute to your feeling of anxiety.

As long as you’re being genuine, try to not sweat how many people interacted with your post. The more confident you get and the more you stay true to yourself the more you’ll attract people who appreciate your posts!

We all start somewhere, and your posts aren’t going to get Kylie Jenner level likes overnight.

Show Your Friends

Showing your content to someone you trust is a fast way to ease any nerves.

Your mum, your best friend, your colleague, anybody who can give you honest, constructive advice, or just a little confidence boost will do wonders for your nerves.

Don’t be afraid to ask them to show your post a little love once it goes live! We all need a cheer squad sometimes to help ease any anxiety.

Don’t Try To Be Something You’re Not

Social media can be an excellent way to express yourself and display your talents. We’re lucky to be living in a time where social media has managed to make the world a much smaller, more accessible place. This allows us to put our talents, products, opinions, or even dance moves in front of a much bigger and global audience. Even more reason to just get involved.
