More ads doesn't mean more ideas. Scroll most brands' ad libraries and you'll find the same handful of concepts repeated at scale, different crops, different thumbnails, same underlying idea wearing a different shirt. That looks like progress on a dashboard. It does nothing on screen, and it does nothing for the algorithm either.

What real diversity actually looks like

Twenty variations of the same image are not twenty different ads, they're one idea with twenty outfits. Real diversity comes from changing the actual angle, the reason someone should care, not just the wrapper around it. Energy, convenience, a specific problem, a specific audience, each one is a genuinely different argument for why someone should buy, and the algorithm needs different arguments to test, not different crops of the same one.

Format matters too, static versus video versus carousel, but it matters less than angle. Test different reasons to buy before you test different ways to package the same reason. A brand running thousands of active ads isn't doing it because more ads are inherently better, it's opening more pockets of demand by giving the algorithm more genuinely different messages and buyers to chase.

Why launching consolidated first actually matters

The instinct once you have several distinct angles is to split them into separate ad sets immediately, one per persona, for more control. That instinct usually backfires. Splitting too early starves each ad set of the volume it needs to actually learn, since the algorithm needs enough conversions flowing through a single ad set before it can make good decisions about what's working.

Launch your diverse creative consolidated into one campaign first, so the algorithm has enough combined data to learn efficiently across all of it. Once an individual angle is generating real, consistent volume on its own, that's the point to split it out for more granular control, not before.

The test that tells you if you're actually diverse

Scroll your own live ads the way a customer would, quickly, without studying them. If you can't tell them apart at a glance, the algorithm probably can't either, no matter how many separate ad IDs you're running.

Run that test on your account this week. If most of what you're calling "creative volume" fails it, the fix isn't producing more, it's producing genuinely different, and that's a much smaller, much more useful list to work from than "make more ads."
